PURPOSE: A variable capacitor and a liquid crystal display device thereof are provided to supply a highly reliable and fast semiconductor device. CONSTITUTION: A variable capacitor includes a first electrode(101), a second electrode(104), an insulating layer(102), and an oxide semiconductor layer(103). The insulating layer is formed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The oxide semiconductor layer is electrically connected to either one of the first or second electrode. The work function of either one of the first or second electrode is lower than electron affinity of the oxide semiconductor layer.
