Summary:A tubular reactor for the continuous production of polymers, especially synthetic rubber, comprises at least one tubular reactor housing (16) with a drive (38) connected to a rotating scraper (36) inside the housing (16), where the scraper (36) has at least one blade (42) for running on the inside of the housing (16). An independent claim is included for a method for the continuous production of polymers by polymerisation of monomers in a tubular reactor (10) as described above, in which a piston flow of starting materials and products is imposed in the horizontal direction and any solids or gels deposited on the inside (44) of the reactor housing are scraped off.
