Summary:PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling the main engine RPM of a CPP control system are provided to enable a driver to confirm the RPM and load state of a main engine through a master control head. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling the main engine RPM of a CPP control system comprises a master control head, a main controller, and a main engine controller. An RPM control value for controlling the RPM of a main engine is inputted to the master control head through an engine RPM lever(S10). The master control head sends the inputted RPM control value to the main controller. The main controller converts the RPM control value into an analog value and sends the analog value to the main engine controller(S16). The main engine controller controls the RPM of the main engine based on the received analog value and transmits the RPM state signal of the main engine to the main controller in real time(S20).
