Summary:PURPOSE: A steam turbine is provided to prevent over-speed rotation of a turbine by returning steam from an exhaust side to an intake side when the pressure of the intake side is lowered due to the operation of an emergency shutoff valve. CONSTITUTION: A steam turbine comprises a positive displacement turbine(2) which is rotated by steam, an intake duct(10) which is connected to the positive displacement turbine, an exhaust duct(11) which is connected to the positive displacement turbine, an emergency shutoff valve(4) which is installed in the intake duct, an exhaust gas return duct(12) which is branched from the intake pipe between the emergency shutoff valve and the positive displacement turbine, and an auto valve(5) which is installed in the exhaust gas return duct and opened to return steam into the intake duct when the pressure of the intake side is lowered due to the operation of the emergency shutoff valve.
