Summary:There is provided a method for determining the popularity of media files for a media playback device. The method comprises using a popularity metric manager for at least one of creating and updating popularity metrics for media files that are stored on the media playback device, wherein the popularity metrics are related to the playback of the media files by a user of the media playback device. The method then updates the playback device with files in accordance with the determined popularity metrics.
