PURPOSE: A liquid crystal device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form a TFT array layer and a color filter array layer on different sides of the upper substrate or the lower substrate. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal device comprises a first substrate(100) which includes a TFT array layer formed on a first surface of the first substrate and a color filter array layer(170) formed on a second surface of the first substrate, a second substrate which faces the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer which is interposed between the first and the second substrates.
