Summary:PURPOSE: An apparatus for determining a map reception failure in a broadband wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to determine the reception state of resource allocation information using signal quality which is detected from the allocated resource. CONSTITUTION: An upper link resource is allocated to a terminal. Resource assignment Information Element is transmitted to the terminal. The resource allocation IE informs the uplink resource allocation. It is determined whether the terminal received the resource allocation IE or not. A measured average of an LLR(Log Likelihood Ratio) is determined(211). The terminal determines the minimum level of a channel quality value(213). The measured average LLR is lower than the minimum level of the channel quality value, the terminal determines the terminal did not received the resource allocation IE(217,219).
