Summary:PURPOSE: An automatic car lamp control apparatus and a method thereof are provided to ensure safety of a car driver by automatically controlling the brightness of a headlight by using an infrared camera and an illuminance meter. CONSTITUTION: An infrared LED(110) emits the infrared ray to a set distance toward the front of the car. An infrared camera(120) collects an infrared ray image reflected as a result of emission of the infrared camera. An image processing unit(130) analyzes infrared ray information of the infrared camera and discriminates information of preceding cars on a lane. An illuminance meter(140) measures brightness of ray reflected from the cars and objects in front of a driver. A car lamp controller(150) controls brightness of the uplighter and switching on/off of the uplighter in correspondence with the brightness of the ray reflected the cars and the objects in front of the driver.
