In some embodiments, the compositions include a suspension or dispersion of particles of at least one poorly soluble drug chelated or otherwise complexed with a metal salt. The compositions may further contain at least one stabilizer, at least one excipient, and at least one physiologically acceptable carrier. Methods for making such compositions, pharmaceutical formulations containing such compositions, and methods of treatment utilizing such compositions are also disclosed.
