Summary:PURPOSE: A system and method for downloading a multimedia file of a portable multimedia device are provided to search/download the multimedia file through connection with a web server. CONSTITUTION: A portable multimedia device(100) includes an auto-download program(110), records one part of the music according to an input of a user during outputting the music, and extracts elements from the data. If an internet is connected, the portable multimedia device transmits the element to web server(200) and download a music file searched from the web server.
