Summary:PURPOSE: An inverter for a high voltage discharge lamp is provided to automatically vary the frequency of the inverter for generating power by sensing the brightness of the high voltage discharge lamp. CONSTITUTION: A PID(Proportional Integral Derivative) comparison controller(214) calculates a control value by using voltage difference. An adder(212) adds the voltage difference to a rated DC voltage for a reference frequency. A VVVF(Variable Voltage Variable Frequency)(204) varies an oscillation frequency according to the variable voltage of the adder. A switching driver(206) switches a primary voltage of a boosted transformer by the variable frequency. A boosting transformer(208) generates high AC power and supplies the high AC power to the high voltage discharge lamp.
