Summary:PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal and a method for detecting the duplicated address of a mobile communication terminal is provided to omit the duplicated address detection process if the terminal is handover with a wireless communication network of heterogeneous, thereby minimizing the delay in handover. CONSTITUTION: An IP(Internet Protocol) address management unit(220) manages allocated IP address if the IP address management unit is connected to a wireless network. If the wireless communication network connection is an initial call access, a duplicated address detector(230) checks the duplication of the assigned IP address. If a mobile communication terminal(200) is handed over to a heterogeneous wireless network, the duplication address detection unit does not checks the duplication of the assigned IP address.
