Summary:PURPOSE: A semiconductor memory is provided to prevent malfunctions after reset of memory cell by maintain the dummy wire control voltage before and after the transition of a variable resistor element. CONSTITUTION: A cell array comprises a memory cell. The memory cell is comprised of a plurality of first wrings, a plurality of second wirings, and a serial circuit. The serial circuit comprises a non-ohmic device and a variable resistor element. A control circuit(30) applies a control voltage to the memory cell. The control voltage is required for changing the low resistance of the variable resistor element to the high resistance of the variable resistor element.
