PURPOSE: A power apparatus for providing high voltage and a control method thereof are provided, which constitute a high voltage power source by serially combining a plurality of modulated high voltage power sources. CONSTITUTION: Each of a first or N high pressure power unit(400-1-400-N) comprises a first rectifier(410-1-410-N), an inverter(430-1-430-N), a transformer(450-1-450-N), a second rectifier(460-1-460-N), and a charge unit(470-1-470-N). The first rectifier creates direct current voltage by rectifying AC voltage. The inverter converts the direct current voltage into the square-wave voltage of high frequency. The transformer comprises a primary side receiving the square-wave voltage of high frequency and a secondary side creating a boosted high voltage. The second rectifier rectifies the secondary side high voltage of the transformer. The charge unit charges the voltage outputted in the second rectifier. The inverter controller outputs a switching control signal.
