Summary:The invention is a process for the epoxidation of an olefin, wherein the concentration of the olefin oxide in the outlet is greater than about 2.2 vol % with the use of an epoxidation catalyst. The catalyst which has improved selectivity in the epoxidation process, includes a bimodal support, with a first mode of pores that have a diameter ranging from about 0.01 to about 5 microns and having a differential pore volume peak in the range from about 0.01to about 5 microns and a second mode of pores, which is different from the first mode of pores, having a diameter ranging from about 1 to about 20 microns and have a differential pore volume peak in the range from about 1 to 20 microns. On the surface is a catalytically effective amount of silver, a promoting amount of rhenium, and a promoting amount of one or more alkali metals. 본 발명은 에폭시화 촉매를 사용하는 올레핀의 에폭시화 방법으로서, 배출구 중의 산화올레핀의 농도가 약 2.2 용적%보다 높은 것인 방법에 관한 것이다. 상기 촉매는 에폭시화 방법에서 선택성이 개선된 것으로서, 직경이 약 0.01 내지 약 5 마이크론이고 미분 공극 용적 피크가 약 0.01 내지 약 5 마이크론인 제1 모드의 공극과, 이 제1 모드의 공극과는 상이한 것으로서 직경이 약 1 내지 약 20 마이크론이고 미분 공극 용적 피크가 약 1 내지 20 마이크론인 제2 모드의 공극을 가진 바이모달 (bimodal) 지지체를 포함한다. 표면에는, 유효 촉매량의 은, 조촉매량의 레늄 및 조촉매량의 1종 이상의 알칼리 금속이 존재한다.
