Summary:PURPOSE: A discharge lamp is provided to conform the central axis of a metal plate with the central axis of a lead rod by inserting and fitting a lead rod with a tapered part into a taper penetration hole. CONSTITUTION: Metal plates(61,62) are connected to the cross section of a glass member(11). A metal foil is arranged on the outer circumference of the glass member and is connected to the metal plate. A lead rod(5,8) is extended to the outside of a discharge container(1) or light emitting tube(2). The metal plate has a taper penetration hole. The lead rod with a taper unit is inserted into the taper penetration hole. The taper penetration hole is fitted to the taper unit.
