Summary:PURPOSE: A high speed code acquisition method in an optical code division multiple access system and a method thereof are provided to improve performance by realizing faster code acquisition through increasing template signal power by M(1+α)/2 (α<1). CONSTITUTION: The first correlator(41) obtains the first correlation value between a received signal and the first template signal. In case the first correlation value is bigger than the first threshold, or the first correlation value is smaller than the first threshold and bigger than the second threshold, the second correlator obtains the second correlation value between the received signal and the second template signal about cells of M/2 of the related group. A template signal generator and a location controller(70) proceeds production and delay of the first template signal and the second template signal.
