Summary:PURPOSE: Automatic detection and re-configuration of a priority status in remote communication networks are provided to properly configure a node for transmission of high/lower priority protocol data units. CONSTITUTION: An upstream node simultaneously transmits the first stream of high priority and the second stream of low priority(201). The upstream node increases the frequency of protocol data units(202). The protocol data units are transmitted to a switching node. A downstream node decides whether the switching node makes the first stream follow a higher priority level higher than the second stream(203). The upstream node reconfigures the switching node(205).
