PURPOSE: A composition for treating gout containing Momordica charantia extract and a composition for preventing inflammation in gout are provided to lower concentrate of uric acid and to suppress iNOS and COX-2 expression. CONSTITUTION: A composition for treating gout contains Momordica charantia extract. A composition for preventing inflammation in gout contains Momordica charantia extract. The prevention of inflammation is performed through suppression of iNOS and COX-2 expression. A method for producing Momordica charantia extract comprises: a step of pulverizing Korean Momordica charantia at 40 mesh and drying to contain 10% or less of moisture content; a step of adding to medicinal alcohol or spirit alcohol to Momordica charantia and extracting at 4°C for 24 hours; a step of centrifuging the extract, adding 70% of ethanol to precipitate; and extracting at 4°C for 12 hours; and a step of evaporating ethanol layer to dry.
