Summary:PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and a method for controlling the same are provided to detect motion of a preview image and easily determine whether correction is possible, thereby photographing an image of desired picture quality. CONSTITUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises a detection unit, a display unit and a correction unit. The detection unit detects movement of the preview image generated due to the movement of a subject and vibration of a hand(2001). The display unit displays movement of the preview image. The correction unit corrects movement of the preview image in the photographing mode. The display unit simultaneously displays correction limitation of the correction unit when the movement of the preview image is made(2002).
