Summary: | Disclosed is an ultraviolet-curable coating agent containing a hydrophilic polymer having a specific structure represented by the general formula (1) below, a polymerizable urethane oligomer, a water-soluble monomer, a photopolymerization initiator, and a water-absorbing filler. The polymerizable urethane oligomer is preferably made from a carboxyl group-containing hydroxyl compound, a polymer polyol, an organic diisocyanate compound and a hydroxyl group-containing acrylate, and preferably has a number average molecular weight of not less than 1,000 but not more than 10,000. By applying such an ultraviolet-curable coating agent over the surface of a base, there is formed an ink-receiving layer which is excellent in ink absorption, dryability of printed images, bleeding properties, tack resistance and water resistance.
