PURPOSE: A surface profile measuring apparatus is provided to obtain a 2D(2-Dimensional) color image by using an inexpensive monochrome camera. CONSTITUTION: A surface profile measuring apparatus is composed of first, second, and third light sources(31,32,33), a monochrome camera(10), and a control unit(40). The first light source irradiates a first monochromatic light to the surface of an object(100). The second light source irradiates the first monochromatic light and a second monochromatic light having another color to the surface of the object. The third light source irradiates a third monochromatic light which is different from the first and second monochromatic lights to the surface of the object. The monochrome camera photographs the first, second, and third monochromatic lights reflected from the surface of the object. The control unit controls the first, second, and third light sources and the monochrome camera to obtain the first, second, and third black-and-white image data corresponded to the first, second, and third monochromatic lights. The control unit generates a color composite image about the surface of the object by processing the black-and-white image data as RGB(Red Green Blue) data about the corresponded pixel.
