Summary:PURPOSE: A method for controlling handover in a portable internet system configured by indoor/outdoor base stations is provided to prevent a call disconnection phenomenon by increasing accuracy of handover. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling handover in a portable internet system configured by indoor/outdoor base stations comprises the following steps. Outdoor serving base stations(12,13) periodically broadcast information of an adjacent base station for handover. When the terminal moves from outdoor to indoor, the outdoor serving base station performs handover to an indoor target base station(14) having signal strength with a value larger than the first handover reference value among candidate base stations. The candidate base station is selected based on the measured signal strength through adjacent base station search in a terminal(11).
