A system and a method for warning electric charges are provided to minimize electric charges in comparison with a graduated tariff and an excessive increase of a graduated charge by providing electric charge information on a real time. A method for warning electric charges comprises the following steps: a step for selecting an electric tariff and a graduated tariff according to an electric charge class in which a user is applied(S400); a step for obtaining the electric tariff and a graduated electric charge cost data(S410); a step for receiving a control priority of home appliances from the user in an excessive graduated charge(S420); a step for storing a control priority input of the home appliances in the excessive graduated charge(S430); a step for providing a charge warning message to the user(S440); a step for calculating a month electric charge expected in case of continuously using an electricity with a present consumption pattern(S450); a step for transmitting a selection message about a relax intention of a graduated charge to the user(S460); a step for performing an electric use amount control of the home appliances according to priority set by the user(S470); and a step for reporting an electric charge comparison result after/before the electric use amount control to the user(S480).
