Summary: | A system and a method for detecting a partial discharge position of an electric power instrument are provided to prevent breakdown of the electric power instrument previously by checking a partial discharge position and to reduce a cost by reducing the number of sensors. A partial discharge position detection system(70) includes a partial discharge sensor(72), a waveform measurement apparatus(74), a conversion module(75), an operating module(76) and a storing region(78). The partial discharge sensor senses the electromagnetic wave partial discharge signal. The waveform measurement apparatus measures the waveform of the signal sensed in the partial discharge sensor. The conversion module converts the measured waveform and separates the waveform according to the transmission mode. The conversion module has the conversion algorithm converting the partial discharge signal in which a transmission mode is synthesized into the time-frequency distribution with high time resolution and frequency resolution. The operating module receives two kinds of the frequency and the arriving time among the signals converted in the conversion module and calculates the group velocity of the transmission mode. The operating module calculates distance from the partial discharge location to the partial discharge sensor by using the arriving time difference and the calculated group velocity of two kinds of transmission modes. The calculus is stored in the storage region. |
