Summary:An apparatus and a method for preventing a display unit from malfunctioning in a wireless terminal are provided to prevent the malfunction of a display unit caused by electrostatic discharge without using an additional device and to extend the durability of the display unit by not initiating the display unit periodically. A method for preventing a display unit from malfunctioning in a wireless terminal comprises the steps of: sensing that a mobile terminal switches its mode from a standby mode to an operational mode(S202); and initiating the first display unit of the mobile terminal when sensing the operational mode(S202).
