Summary:An image forming apparatus and a method for discharging paper thereof are provided to drive a feed roller by a length of a space of a printed paper when a paper discharging operation is performed by using the feed roller. An image forming apparatus(200) includes a feed roller(232), a kicker(236), and a controller(270). The feed roller feeds a paper. The kicker pushes the paper to a cassette selectively interacting with the feed roller. The controller compares a reference value with a printing completion line of the paper to the lower end of the paper so that the operation state of the kicker is determined. The image forming apparatus further includes a driving motor(231) to drive the feed roller. The controller controls the driving motor to drive the feed roller at a speed capable of transferring the paper to the cassette.
