Summary: | A method and an apparatus for supporting handover in a communication network are provided to offer handover information to target ASNs quickly, thereby reducing a delayed time. An ASN(Access Service Network) processor(123) detects a communication loss with a remote device(101) through a transceiving apparatus(125). When the remote device predicts that unsolicited handover can start with the other ASN, a serving ASN(121) supports or promotes handover for reducing handover delay which the remote device causes. The ASN processor provides authentication context information and service authorization information about the remote device to target ASNs(131,141). The transmitted authentication context information includes at least one a security engineer, a TEK(Traffic Encryption Key) parameter, a packet number, authentication key information, AK(Authorization Key) SN, AK lifetime, PMS(Program Management System) SN, and PMK2SN. The serving ASN transmits an authentication ASN identifier for the remote device, an anchor DP(Data Path) ASN identifier, MAC(Media Access Control) context information, and/or indication for starting handover between the remote device and the target ASN to the target ASNs. |
