Summary:An apparatus and a method for providing location based regional information are provided to enable core service providers, located at a specific area, to perform advertisement at a reasonable cost via an internet search service. An apparatus for providing location based regional information includes a keyword receiver(220), a text search engine(240), a location search engine(250), and a search result transmitter(280). The keyword receiver receives keywords from a user and transmits the received keywords to the text search engine over a network. The text search engine extracts location information and a search category from the received keywords and transmits the extracted location information and search category to the location search engine. The location search engine extracts search result data on the basis of the received location information and search category, and transmits the extracted search result data to the search result transmitter. The search result transmitter transmits the received search result data to the user.
