A light guide plate, a light guide plate manufacturing method, and a backlight unit using the light guide plate are provided to make the light guide plate thin by making the light guide plate of a synthetic resin sheet and forming convex and concave surfaces by a press. An edge light-type light guide plate(30) is composed of first and second sides(31,32) facing each other and a peripheral surface extended between peripheries of the first and second sides. A portion of the peripheral surface is a light incident plane(30a). The first side is extended across the light incident plane and provided with thin and long convex surfaces(31a) parallel to each other and having a circular arc-shaped section. The second side is extended across the convex surface of the first surface and provided with thin and long concave surfaces(32a) parallel to each other and having a triangle-shaped section.
