Summary:A power control method and a portable apparatus using the method are provided to block power supply in case of booting by controlling a switching module which controls power supplied to a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) module, and to supply power only when a DMB module execution program is performed, thereby saving power consumption of a battery. A device is embedded in a system. A switching module(60) controls power supplied to the device. An embedded controller(40) controls the switching module(60) so that power is selectively supplied to the device. A BIOS(Basic Input Output System)(50) applies a signal for controlling the power supplied to the device, to the embedded controller(40) according to execution of the device. A CPU(Central Processing Unit) controls entire modules of the system.
