Summary:A USB type electronic device with a laser pointer is provided to increase portability by integrating a laser pointer function to an MP3 player or a USB storage device, and to operate without a battery by receiving power through a USB port of a computer when the MP3 player or the laser pointer function is used. A body unit(200) stores data transmitted and received with an information terminal through a USB port(220) and recognizes/plays the stored data. A laser beam generator(400) projects a laser beam to the outside by using the power received from the body unit according to an operation signal received from the body unit. The body unit includes a power supply unit(230) supplying the power charged from the information terminal through the USB port to the body unit and the laser beam generator. The laser beam generator includes a switch(410) for controlling the power supplied from the power supply unit according to an operation signal, a laser diode(420) generating the laser beam by using the power supplied from the power supply unit, and a lens(430) converting the laser beam into a parallel beam and projecting the parallel beam to the outside.
