Summary: | A histogram adjustment for high dynamic range image mapping is provided to reproduce a local contrast and fine details of backgrounds automatically at a high speed without using artifacts. A memory stores a command indicating image data with respect to an image as a luminance value, a command determining a key value as a function of an average luminance value of the image and minimum and maximum luminance values of the image, a command generating offset-adjusted luminance values including a command applying an offset, which is the function of the determined key value, to each luminance value, and a command calculating a tone reproducing curve with respect to at least one region of the image including a command applying a mapping function to the offset-adjusted luminance values. A processor(22) executes the commands and outputs a processed image. |
