A device and a method for purifying internal air of a vehicle are provided to sense outside air for blocking introduction of the outside air when harmful substances are contained in the outside air, and sense an amount of oxygen of inside air for generating oxygen and alarm messages, thereby preventing internal air pollution and suffocation in advance. A device for purifying internal air of a vehicle includes an outside air sensing part(10) for sensing substances of outside air, an inside air sensing part(20) for sensing an amount of oxygen contained in the air of a vehicle room, an inside/outside air condition sensing part(30) for the sensing inside/outside air mode of a vehicle air conditioner, and a control part(40) analyzing signals output from the above sensing parts to output predetermined control signals. An inside/outside air conversion part(50) converts the inside/outside air mode of the vehicle air conditioner according to the control signal output from the control part. An oxygen generating part(60) generates oxygen to be supplied to the vehicle room under the control of the control part. An alarm generating part(70) generates alarm messages for oxygen lacking under the control of the control part.
