Summary: | At least one resin selected among biodegradable resins and plant-derived resins or a PS resin is made flame-retardant by using a halogen-free ingredient imparting flame retardancy to thereby obtain a flame-retardant resin composition. At least one catalyst selected among catalysts respectively for refining, cracking, synthesizing, and reforming hydrocarbons is used as the ingredient imparting flame retardancy. This ingredient is kneaded together with either a biodegradable or plant-derived resin, such as polylactic acid and polybutylene succinate, or a PS resin to produce the resin composition. This resin composition is molded by injection molding, etc. to produce, e.g., the housing of a domestic electrical appliance. Especially when polylactic acid or a PS resin is flame-retarded, a resin composition having excellent flame-retardant properties can be provided as a halogen-free material by using a silica/magnesia catalyst as the flame retardancy ingredient. |
