Summary:A method for authenticating a user in a telematics system and a telematics terminal therefor are provided to prevent an unauthorized user from using an expensive telematics service by transmitting user authentication information from the telematics terminal to a telematics service server and storing the user authentication information and to simplify a user authentication process. A method for authenticating a user in a telematics system includes the steps of: storing input user authentication information to receive a first telematics service(S11-S13B); and using the stored user authentication information to be provided with a second telematics service(S15-S17). The step of storing the user authentication information includes the step of transmitting the user authentication information inputted for being provided with the first telematics service from a telematics terminal to a telematics service server, and storing the user authentication information in the telematics terminal.
