Summary:A method for preparing ceramic powder for dielectrics is provided to obtain fine dielectric ceramic powder having an excellent crystallinity and a uniform particle size distribution and useful for fabricating a multilayer ceramic capacitor. A method for preparing ceramic powder for dielectrics comprises the steps of: dispersing BaCO3 powder into a solution formed of a solvent and a dispersant to provide BaCO3 slurry, followed by wet milling; mixing the milled BaCO3 slurry with TiO2 powder slurry and drying the mixture; heat-treating the dried mixture from the initial phase synthesis temperature of the mixture to the temperature where a drop in the weight caused by the decomposition of CO2 from BaCO3 during the phase synthesis ceases substantially to provide BaTiO3 powder; and firing the BaTiO3 powder at a temperature of 900-1000 deg.C.
