Summary: | Disclosed is an electrolysis electrode with excellent corrosion resistance and durability which can be used for a long time for producing high-purity quaternary ammonium hydroxide by electrolyzing an inorganic acid salt of quaternary ammonium in an electrolysis vessel using a cation exchange membrane as the diaphragm. In addition, this electrolysis electrode contributes to reduce power consumption, thereby enabling to commercially produce high-purity quaternary ammonium hydroxide at low cost. Specifically disclosed is electrolysis electrode which is used when quaternary ammonium hydroxide is produced by electrolyzing an inorganic acid salt of quaternary ammonium in an electrolysis vessel using a cation exchange membrane as the diaphragm. This electrolysis electrode is characterized in that an electrode base made of a conductive metal is coated with an electrode active layer containing an electrode active material, and an intermediate layer made of a mixed oxide composed of an oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of In, Ir, Ta, Ti, Ru and Nb and an Sn oxide is arranged between the electrode base and the electrode active layer. |
