Summary:A television with a remote controller function and a method for controlling the same are provided to execute a frequently used specific function without operating a remote controller or a function key by displaying OSD menus in order and executing the corresponding function according to user operation if an infrared ray signal is interrupted. A light emitting unit(110) emits an infrared ray signal to an external reflector every light emitting period. A light receiving unit(120) receives a reflection signal reflected from the reflector. A control unit(130) executes a specific function according to interruption of the reflection signal received by the light receiving unit. An OSD(On Screen Display) generator(140) generates at least one or more menus for displaying the menus on a picture. The control unit controls the OSD generator to display the menus in order when the reflection signal is interrupted.
