Summary:An apparatus and a method for processing a timer in a wireless LAN system are provided to maximize the frame throughput by adjusting the timer value of the SIFS and the DIFS by the transmitter and the receiver according to the quality of the wireless media. An apparatus for processing a timer in a wireless LAN system includes a timer processing device(300). The timer processing device(300) has an interface unit(310), a storage unit(320), and a frame process unit(330). The timer processing device(300) grasps the quality of the wireless media according to the separated distance with the receiver which receives the frame, and decides the driving timer value according to the quality, and produces the frame to be transmitted to the wireless media, and transmits the transmission requiring frame to the wireless media, and drives the timer according to the driving timer value, and receives the transmission answering frame according to the transmission requiring frame.
