Summary:A method for controlling alarming over a call or message reception and a mobile terminal is provided to enhance user convenience by displaying a moon phase in performing various functions of a mobile terminal. An alarm unit(106) sounds the alarm to a user when a call or a message is received through an RF transmitting/receiving unit(101). A memory(103) stores association information obtained by associating a moon phase and a call or message reception alarm method so that a method of alarming a call or message reception can be changed by a change in the moon phase. A controller(104) controls the RF transmitting/receiving unit, the memory and the alarm unit in order to sound the alarm according to the alarming method corresponding to a current moon phase through the association information stored in the memory when a call or a message is received.
