A system and a method for providing media contents by using a web service are provided to enable a terminal connected to one home network to quickly/easily use the media contents of other home networks through the web service by integrally managing media content information collected from a plurality of home servers. Each home server(310) collects local home media content information from local home network terminals, transmits the collected information to an integrated media information management server(340), and provides the shared media content information from the integrated server to a local home media player(320) by using the web service. The home server transfers a media content request message of the local home media player to a remote home network terminal(350) based on the shared media content information. The integrated server integrally manages the shared media content information by collecting the local home media content information received from each home server based on the web service and provides the shared media content information through the web service by responding to the request of each home network terminal.
