Summary: | The extract of Nerium genus plants for inhibiting growth of bacteria in cooling water and a method for inhibiting growth of bacteria in cooling water by using the same extract are provided to reduce the costs for sterilizing the cooling water by using inexpensive material, and manage the cooling water without environmental pollution. The extract of Nerium genus plants for inhibiting growth of bacteria in cooling water contains oleandroside and nerioside as effective components, wherein the extract of Nerium genus plants is obtained by using hydrogen peroxide; the Nerium genus plants include Nerium indicum, Nerium indicum for. plenum, Neriumindicum for. lutescens, Nerium indicum for. leucanthum, or Nerium oleander; and the concentration of Nerium genus plants treated to cooling water is 100-200ppm. The method for inhibiting growth of bacteria in cooling water comprises the steps of: drying the Nerium genus plants; pulverizing the dried Nerium genus plants; adding hydrogen peroxide into the pulverized Nerium genus plants, stirring the mixture, and storing it for 3-10 days; adding water into the mixture, and mixing and filtering the mixture to prepare the extract of Nerium genus plants; and treating cooling water with 100ppm or more of the Nerium genus plant extract. |
