A method and a system for offering a character management service according to story progress are provided to easily connect responses of an Internet novel to a character business by promoting participation of many Internet writers, forming a featured character based on the Internet novel, and offering the Internet character to readers together with the Internet novel. A client system(100) is equipped with a communication tool for uploading a story to a server system(200) through the network(600) and a display unit. A web server(210) receives and stores the story uploaded from the client system to a story database(510). A story server(220) examines and selects the stories stored in the story database. A character server(230) forms the character by selecting and combining images stored in an image database(520) based on the story selected in the story server. A database unit(500) comprises the story database, the image database storing basic images of the character generated by a character provider, and a story character database(530) storing the formed character and the story selected by the story server.
