A method for updating a DVC(Data Validation Certificate) in a DVCS(Data Validation and Certification Server) and the method for verifying the updated DVC are provided to extend an expiration term by automatically updating a document having a set storage term within the storage term when the expiration term of the DVC is passed. The DVCS checks whether the expiration term of the DVC is passed or not. The DVCS checks whether the DVC for a DVCS signature is updated or not. In case that the DVC for the DVCS signature is updated, the DVC issued for the DVCS signature is loaded. Update of the DVC is determined by checking contents such as a policy and an initial issuance date of the DVC. DVC issuance is requested by using the loaded DVC. The updated DVC is stored to an internal database, and is transferred to a document repository and a related user.
