Producing shaped plastic parts comprises transferring reactants from storage containers to a mixer through metering devices, delivering the mixture into a mold or onto a substrate and curing the mixture. For at least one reactant there are two metering devices, each comprising a metering piston with a spindle and a motor-driven spindle nut, and the devices are operated to provide a continuous stream of mixture. Producing shaped plastic parts using apparatus comprising reactant storage containers, a mixer and metering devices and conduits for transferring reactants from the storage containers to the mixer comprises delivering the mixture from the mixer into a mold or onto a substrate and curing the mixture. For at least one reactant there are two metering devices, each comprising a metering piston with a spindle and a motor-driven spindle nut, and a continuous stream of mixture is delivered by operating the metering devices so that the product of the piston area, spindle pitch and spindle rotation speed is the same for both devices during their compression strokes and that the sum of these products is the same during stationary and nonstationary phases.
