METHOD FOR PREPARING PERFLUOROCARBON-SUBSTITUTED METHANOLS

Methods for producing perfluorocarbon monomethanols and dimethanols are disclosed in which suitable perfluoroalkyl esters of perfluoroalkanoic acids are reduced. The methods can provide branched perfluorocarbon monomethanols or dimethanols with good purity and yields.
