Summary: | A blue phosphor for an alternating current powder electroluminescence(ACPEL) is provided, which is excellent in brightness and has dark blue color of high quality similar to the natural color. And a process for producing the blue phosphor is also provided. The blue phosphor represented by the formula: ZnS:Cu,Cl comprises zinc sulfide as a matrix and copper and chlorine as coactivators, wherein the content of a copper ion is 0.0001-0.001mol based on the zinc sulfide of 1mol and color coordinates are x=0.15± 0.02 and y=0.18±0.04. And the blue phosphor is produced by the process containing the steps of: mixing the zinc sulfide, a compound containing the copper ion, and a compound containing a chlorine ion and pre-calcining at 400-800deg.C; calcining the resultant firstly at 950-1200deg.C; adding copper sulfate and zinc oxide to the resultant and calcining secondly at 500-1000deg.C; cleansing, drying, and classifying. |
