Summary: | PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for adjusting a data transmission rate are provided to use an effective data carrying bandwidth of a common communication link to its maximum by automatically adjusting each data transmission rate of a plurality of backup appliances. CONSTITUTION: The first primary backup appliance receives state signals from the (N-1) number of primary backup appliances(510). The first primary backup appliance receives the next state signal from the (N-1) number of primary backup appliances(515). The first primary backup appliance calculates the nth effective bandwidth with respect to each of the N number of appliances(520). The first primary backup appliance calculates a TTC(Time to Completion) with respect to each of the N number of appliances(525). The first primary backup appliance calculates the nth aggregate bandwidth with respect to the N number of primary backup appliances(530). The first primary backup appliance checks whether it has the larger nth TTC among the N number of primary backup appliances(535), and if so, the nth delay with respect to the first primary backup appliance is set as '0'(550). The first primary backup appliance provides data including the entire consistent transaction set or a portion of the consistent transaction set to one or more sub-backup appliances through a common communication link by using the nth delay(560). |
