Summary:PURPOSE: A radiographic apparatus and a radiographic method are provided to judge the presence/absence of a residual image and notify a user of the presence/absence such that a residual image removing operation is carried out only when it is necessary rather than executing every time radiography is performed. CONSTITUTION: A radiographic apparatus comprises an acquisition unit for acquiring an FPN(fixed pattern noise) image prior to performing a radiography operation; and a judging unit for judging the presence/absence of a residual image by using the FPN image. A radiographic method comprises the first step of setting one of a reference image radiography mode and a radiographic image taking mode; the second step of acquiring the first FPN image as a reference, when the reference image taking mode is set in the first step; a step of acquiring the second FPN image prior to radiography, when the radiographic image taking mode is set in the first step; and a step of determining the presence/absence of a residual image by using the first FPN image and the second FPN image.
